Look Into My Eyes

Sometimes we all need to find escape inside a bubble of some sort. Your bubble might be films, books, fashion or even a person: whatever form that bubble takes, we all need to escape at some time. For pure fashion fantasy there is few more fantastical than Dutch designer Iris Van Herpen. Her universe is a magical place. Her latest couture collection, entitled Hypnosis, took inspiration from artist Anthony Howe's beautifully kinetic sculptures. The 19 piece collection brings together a combination of engineering and craftsmanship, combining materials such as silk organza and duchesse-satin, with structural elements of aluminium and stainless steel to reflect Howe’s stunning sculptures, that models passed through as they walked down the runway. Van Herpen also adopted the ancient silk moiré weaving technique for the collection, which uses multiple layers of rippling fabric to create the illusory effect of a shimmering surface.

Hypnosis aims to reflect the beauty and complexity of our environment
