Orthopaedic

THE NURSE WILL SEE YOU NOW

A proper outfit feature! It’s been quite some time since you’ve seen one of these. At the moment I just prefer the quick and dirty mirror selfies on Instagram as it feels more authentic. But phone images aren’t the best quality for a blog so it was time to shoot an outfit properly, especially when there are details you want to capture.

There is something vaguely medical about the combination of pale blue and beige or white. It’s at once clean and minimal yet strict and unwelcoming. I combined these very colours together recently when I decided to dig out an old DIY - a cropped and hacked trench coat - and paired it with my uniform-esque blue shirt dress. With the addition of my vintage girdle, worn as a belt, the orthopaedic aesthetic was sealed.

Everything in this outfit is old and has been worn on here a million times. But there are always new ways to style old pieces if you look hard enough.
