The Mugler Legacy

Losing Theirry Mugler at only 73 years old is a tremendous blow for the fashion industry. He was a total legend and inspired countless designers since he launched his label in the 70’s. Seeing his clothing, which often features latex and shiny PVC, inspired my own style greatly when I was young and that has stayed with me for my entire life.

A Mugler woman was like something from a Boris Vallejo painting. Formidable and empowered. His love of sci-fi also featured heavily in his couture collections, with a Metropolis-esque metal bodysuit being a particular highlight. He truly was a man who walked his own path and fashion will never be able to replace him.
