The Tiger who came to tea...

Jill Sander is not a label I have ever worn in the past.

It always just felt a little too grown up and strict for me

Having said that  Lucie and Luke Meier have been a breath of fresh air. For their latest collection they have said that they want to “look at the future with positivity and optimism”. An outlook no doubt influenced by the arrival of their baby daughter in June.

This optimistic feeling has seen the brand’s signature more rigid silhouettes tempered with a new sense of fluidity. “It’s very much about the contrasts between rigid and fluid, hard and soft, masculine and feminine,” said Lucie

It has also introduced a feeling of fun. Just look at these tiger patterns, straightforward in an iconic velvet coat, the enlarged hand-painted stripes, and the paisleys, enriched by sequins in a gown, are a clear invitation to be light-hearted and to play…

We are reopening our eyes and can enjoy the bliss of a new awakening. To see clearly, we need the lights and sounds around us to be soft, to feel comfortable and to carefully use the power and sensitivity that we have in us. Far from perfect, we can always look forward, with as little filter as possible. We are plural, nocturnal, and luminous; feminine, masculine, vulnerable and strong; and we shouldn’t take ourselves too seriously. We are in motion.

In addition, Luke Meier revealed that this season they employed mainly natural fabrics and many of them were manipulated with dyeing processes and surface treatments for an artisanal approach.

These cocoon dresses are so lyrical and almost pastoral, I just adore them.
