The Ballerina and the branch....

Oh I’m a sucker for a ceramic mash-up.

I’ve shared many many of them over the years.

Don’t think I’ve shared the work of  Debra Broz’s porcelain creatures before.

The Los Angeles based artist rescues abandoned figurines from thrift stores. Using ceramics restoration techniques she dismantles and combines, then seamlessly restores them creating uniquely twisted origin stories.  All the works below are made from secondhand ceramic figurines customized with sculpting compound, acrylic paint & sealer.

Half the fun is in trying to figure out what the originals were. Some are easier than others. Bulldog Quails and Duck faced cats keep company with Flightless Bovines and Pigeon Dogs.
