Who's zoomin' who?

Get yourself a cup of tea and some cake and get ready for a Tuesday treat.

This video is 35 minutes long.

The Prada Spring Summer 21 collection, the first designed by Miuccia and Raf Simmons was shown digitally this week complete with a soundtrack by Richie Hawtin with the synthesized voice of Miuccia describing outfits.

The collection is then followed by an interview with M and R.

"Study, study, study. Learn. Watch movies. Watch art. Read literature. A piece of clothing should make you live better. It's not an abstract job. The result of my job is that the people with my clothes live a bit better. It's useful. It helps define your personality. It's an instrument for your life."

Needless to say, I loved the collection especially the coats and shoulder wraps complete with rucksacks. However, when it comes to logos I like mine small to non-existent. I don’t need to shout to the world who I’m wearing.

Perhaps though these are clothes for the new world. A pandemic world where everything happens from the neck up. These are clothes for the zoom generation.

Prada has denied the Zoom angle and said instead they were inspired by the "contemporary human relationship with technology".

My other main thoughts after watching the video -

  1. Calm the hell down with holes Raf!

  2. That carpet is so thick and wonderful the models have trouble walking on it. I want one.

  3. I would love to see the walking instructions for the models. I’m thinking ‘scowl like hell’

To finish, it goes without saying if Aretha is in my head now it’s only fair she should be in yours too.
