A Little Bit Countryside

If you follow me on Instagram you’ll have seen my recent Stories that feature all the broiderie anglaise I’ve been wearing lately. And it’s been a lot.

It’s in no small way because we have had some beautiful weather here in the Kingdom, reminding us that spring is just around the corner and there’s nothing like the sun to have me digging about the wardrobe for that whimsical white cotton. I can’t put my finger on why I love it to much. Perhaps it was the long, hot summers from my youth, wafting around in full length broiderie skirts and cropped tops that laced up the front. It has a beautiful innocence to it too that lends itself to being paired with harder edged pieces - a little naughty to it’s nice.

I have a beautiful dress by a label called Loveshack Fancy, which you’ve seen on here before, but it’s expensive and delicate so I bought an ‘everyday’ broderie dress from ASOS and I was extremely pleasantly surprised by how beautiful it was. I also recently bought the gorgeous Isabel Marant skirt from her SS18/19 collection (the one in the photo below), which will doubtless be my summer ‘go-to’ item. Many pieces from that collection form the focus of my summer moodboard.

I for one can’t wait for tanned summer skin, beachy hair and, of course, adding some naughty to all that nice.
