Studio Five is a small brand based here is Scotland and is designed by sisters Lucy and Kitty.

The girls both graduated in 2016 with degrees in Fashion and Textiles from Heriot Watt University in Galashiels and Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. They both became increasingly concerned about the devastating effects that the fast fashion industry is having on the environment so decided to launch Studio Five, a brand that celebrates "stylish sustainability".

Studio Five's first collection, entitled 'The Calm Before the Storm', features unisex, illustrated tees in organic cotton, organic cotton cushions, hand rolled scarves, recycled paper postcards, badges and sticker packs. Their second collection, which is still in development, was inspired by the mountains and the animals that dwell in them. They have upped their product offering with this collection too by including items such as a new 100% knitted wool range which encompasses  scarves, socks and jumpers.

The cushions from the second collection (the first 4 shown) are absolutely fantastic. I could use one of these babies for my desk chair. As a graphic designer the prints really appeal to me.

With prices around £40 for a cushion it won't cost the earth. Literally.

One of our main ambitions is to become fully sustainable in future, as we know this is becoming an ever more pressing matter in the fashion industry. We would like to do our bit to help, by only using organic or upcycled material, as well as only launching two collection a year. Our designs are inspired by nature and animals. We do this through mark making, collage and illustration. This has proven to be very popular as our first collection “The Calm Before the Storm” has captured plenty of attention in newspapers, blogs and social media.
