Yay For Yayoi

Even when  you can't buy anything, online window shopping is no less fun. I could spend hours on my favourite sites, making imaginary shopping lists and outfits if I had a limitless budget or, in my case, any budget at all!

My current obsession is Yayoi, which is a jewelry brand created by Jevgenija Dorosenko and is based in Riga, Latvia. Her beautiful statement necklaces and bracelets are all  handcrafted using materials such sea corals and semi-precious stones. It's rare to find jewellery that appeals to both Queen Marie and my owns tastes, but I can safely say Yayoi does just that.

This is the second collection from the brand, which only launched in 2013. It's entitled Element One and is inspired by water.

Water is beginning of all and it is first of all elements because of its mastery over the rest, and therefore our main focus of inspiration in Element One. It changes the states forming a variety of textures. Water as mysterious and life giving is equated with the feminine aspects of creation. By applying natural materials such as clear quartz and sea corals and using deep melancholic color spectrum, we attempted to deliver a story of the transformation of the element. Each piece reflects a different state of water. It freezes and forms a translucent ice on the surface meanwhile being in motion in the dark deep depths. Crystalizes and paints all in white. But portrayal of each phase is a masterpiece of the principal artist and creator which nature is.

Each necklace is roughly between £100 - £220 and bracelets around £40.
