Return of The Knight...

Watch out there is a new logo in town as well as a new designer in the shape of Daniel Lee over at Burberry. They have introduced a new “ archive-inspired” logo and returned to the flourish of a serif typeface. Along with the reintroduction of the  122 year old Equestrian Knight Design which was the result of a 1901 competition to design a new logo for the company. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

It must be the business I’m in because the first thing I think when I read about a large brand changing their logo is “ooh that’s a nice job for the signage guys”

Campaign imagery adorned with the new logo, which was posted to the Burberry Instagram earlier this week, announced the redesign as "the first creative expression" of the new man in charge. The campaign was shot in London, by British photographer Tyrone Lebon, and features British figures both old and new including the wonderful Vanessa Redgrave.

He was named as Burberry's chief creative officer in October 2022 just days after Tisci presented his final collection for the brand. It’s goodbye too to the previous 2018 rebrand carried out by the esteemed Peter Saville ( although you can still read about it on the site. Talk about riding two horses with one arse!)

Lee certainly shook things up over at Bottega Veneta and now it’s less than a fortnight until we see his first collection for Burberry on 20 February during London Fashion Week. Lets just see what direction he is riding in. Prorsum indeed…
