10th Balleversary

Last week marked my 10th year of ballet training. I can hardly believe it’s been so long. It only feels like I have been dancing for a few years. But no. 10 years of literal blood, sweat and tears.

There has been no dancing this year, except in my living room, and I know when I finally get to go back it’s going to be like starting from the beginning again, but I cannot wait.

Ballet gives me so much. It fills voids in my life and gives me something to look forward to every week, so not having it has been a struggle at times. For those 4 or so hours, my brain isn’t allowed to think of anything else except ballet. It’s like meditation for me. Hard, frustrating, painful meditation!

When I featured my ballet birthday one of my favourite dancers, Eve Mutso, formerly with Scottish Ballet, messaged me to ask where I performed and with which company. I told her I didn’t dance professionally and she said I was in great shape and should audition! Needless to say, that counted a getting a huge gift on my balleversary! I was on cloud nine all day long.

I’m looking forward t another 10 years of dancing. I have no idea what that will look like, but I’ll be working my ass off as much then as I am now.
