Power Fabric

I don’t often try new products as I have such obscenely oily skin and nothing I have used thus far, in my 46 years of life, has ever made it better.

My skincare regime is basic - a facial wash followed by a moisturiser with SPF 30. It’s been the same since I was 20. In terms of cosmetics I have tried almost every brand that promises to help with your pesky oily skin and have had no luck, other than Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer, which is a miracle product. That shit really does keep your eye makeup in place with no creasing.

When it comes to foundation I have ended up settling on Estee Lauder Doublewear just because it was the best of a bad bunch. Basically there is no foundation that can stand up against my oily skin. None. I could paint my face with matte emulsion and it’d still be gone by the end of the day. Whilst my oily skin has probably helped contribute to my lack of wrinkles it’s still frustrating at times.

Last week I went to buy a new bottle but got sidetracked by the Armani counter. I haven’t tried their products before so I headed over for a nosy and I was immediately pounced upon by the sales assistant, as always happens whenever you go within 2 feet of a makeup counter. I explained I was in the market for a new foundation for oily skin and he pointed me in the direction of their Power Fabric. This foundation promises a matte finish but one which feels very natural. That was always the thing I disliked about Doublewear - the fact it never felt natural. I figured it couldn’t be any worse than that so I took the plunge and bought it and the SA also upsold me the matching primer. I have used primers in the past and they did absolutely nothing but they were affordable brands so I figured I might have more luck with a premium brand.

I really didn’t have high hopes but when I went home and tried it I must admit I was pleasantly surprised. This foundation feels absolutely beautiful on. I tried the primer first followed by my moisturiser, as I was instructed, but it was shiny the second it was on. So next time I swapped it around and put moisturiser on first followed by the primer and got the natural matte finish I was hoping for.

I was also surprised by how well it lasted too. It wasn’t all the day but it was certainly an hour or 2 longer than other foundations last on me. After a few wears I have settled on the Power Fabric all over but a little bit of the Doublewear on my T Zone and that seems to be a really good combo.

So if you are bothered with oily skin then I recommend this foundation and primer combo.
