meet me in the clearing...

Despite my enduring hippy type vibe, I never wear maxi dresses. If ever anyone were to make me change my mind it would be Veronique Branquinho. Holy Hell just look at how stunning and haunting these images are of her resort 16 collection. It looks as if all the young girls from Picnic at Hanging Rock have grown up and emigrated to a woodland in Vermont.

The resort collection is comprised of fifeteen summer dresses all in white and all in black. A sort of daytime easiness defined by the choice of fabrics and authentic natural materials like cotton and silk. The use of artisanal ( there's that word again) and handmade details such as smock, sunburst pleats and lace incrustations ( less keen on that word) gives every dress its own character.

As a person, I value more and more the simple things in life. A return to simplicity and an uncomplicated lifestyle. Although the dresses are romantically long, they express through the choice of fabric, a daytime feeling. The images of the collection shot in the woods express total freedom and beauty and that has always been an inspiration to me. Forever wild at heart
