When Life Gives You Lemons...

I featured Australian brand For Love & Lemons way back when they first launched and haven’t really written about them since. From then they’ve grown from strength to strength. They began life as a small lingerie brand but branched out into clothing a few years ago. The clothing is designed to compliment their underwear, which is still core to their business.

Normally I find their dresses are a little too youthful for even me to wear, but for their summer collection I was excited to see they’d introduced some vintage girdle inspired accents, which I discovered after I posted this outfit on Instagram earlier in the week:

I happened to have a little nosey on ASOS, as I hadn’t looked for a while, and saw the For Love & Lemons Alexandria dress. It was clearly fate. And my mum’s name was Alexandria so it’s extra fate!

The only disappointing thing is they no longer sell the broderie anglaise belt that sits over the dress in this photo. That really makes the dress extra special and it’s a pity you can’t get the full look here. However I did manage, after looking for hours on every corner of the internet, to source a broderie anglaise vintage girdle, but sadly the seller’s daughter decided she wanted it and the sale was cancelled. Very annoying. I’ll keep looking though as it really does need the belt to enhance the whole dress.

I went over to the For Love & lemons site and that’s when I discovered a plethora of not only girdle and corset inspired details but also broderie anglaise. Died and gone to heaven.
