Flares Fail

FAILURE IS ALWAYS
AN OPTION

I decide to see how flares hold up when worn with edgier pieces, rather than the more 70's/western silhouette I explored in the previous outfit post. So I teamed these black versions of the flares you saw in last week's post with my Topshop Unique leather tunic and Rick Owens jacket to see how such a pairing would work. Do flares translate into darker, edgier looks. And for me personally the honest answer is absolutely not. I kinds hate this whole look. It doesn't work for me on any level. The two looks are just too far apart to really work together.

It's good to also feature outfits that fail as well as the ones that look good. This outfit space is as much about experimentation for me as just sharing the clothes I wear, so yeah sometimes I get it wrong.

So in conclusion, flares do look brilliant but only in some settings. My more fashion forward pieces need to stick to being teamed with leaner silhouettes so I won;t be chucking out the skinny jeans any time soon. But you knew that anyway.
