WHEN PAST AND PRESENT COLLIDE

I'm sharing the outfit post that was due to go up on Monday with you today because Marie isn't posting today but I didn't know until 2 minutes ago, so I didn't have time to prepare anything else. So two outfits in one week!

I've extolled the virtues of dressing down sequins plenty of times on the blog. Never one to shirk away from an opportunity to break a style rule, my sequins rarely see night time, preferring the quizzical looks of people going about their daytime business.

This pink sequinned skirt has appeared on here before. Taken out of it's evening context once again, teamed with my favourite Thrasher hoodie and Thakoon skate shoes, this time it's really dressed down. It's an awkward look for sure and probably shouldn't work, and maybe in most people's eyes it doesn't at all, but for me this look embodies everything about me as a teen. That awkward balance between being a tomboyish skateboarder but also being a girl who had become rather interested in boys and wanted to be seen as a 'proper girl'. And now it represents that awkward balance of being a 20 year old trapped inside a 43 year old's body.

What goes around comes around, as they say.

I wear this outfit a lot, probably an embarrassing amount actually. I've been searching for an alternative skirt to wear with it to give the sequins a wee break. I was thinking tulle, so it still has the evening/daywear collision going on.

You'll doubtless see the next variation on here at some point.
