Queen Marie will remember back to the circa 2002 when my life's work consisted of finding The Perfect Jeans.
I searched high and low, trying on every label and brand you could think of; Seven For All Mankind, Citizens of Humanity, Sass & Bide, Earl and brands which have long since disappeared. I owned jeans from all these labels, hoping that with each new pair I would find the Holy Grail of Denim. I never did.
Some time later I gave up on premium label jeans and wore cheap and cheerful Toshop. Soon after that I gave up on jeans almost entirely. I have since preferred hiding in loose trousers or knee length skirts and shorts. I do wear black jeans but only when I'm being particularly lazy.
However, things changed when I was sent an email by premium New York based denim label DL1961. The email came from their rather charming representive Ruby who somehow managed to convince me that these jeans would be The Perfect Jeans and before I knew it a pair were winging their way to me. Not just any pair. A blue pair!
Whaaaaat??? Me in blue jeans! Who am I?!
I have not worn blue jeans in forever but Ruby had me thinking that maybe, just maybe, I could carry off some sassy blue jeans.
Several days later I had them in my possesssion. As I took them home on the bus, I kept peering into the bag, dubious. They were so blue. And tight. But home they came.
I showed Prince B and he said I could definitely pull off blue jeans, so I trotted into the bedroom and no sooner had I zipped them up and could already feel my eyebrows rise in surprise.
Dang, these things are amazing!
Ruby promised me the fit would be like nothing else. That these would gently caress my legs, hold in wobbly bits and wouldn't bag out or loose their shape. And that girl was right. I am genuinely incredibly impressed by these jeans. I feel great in them.
I even fell a little in love with the blue! Well colour me shocked, if these aren't The Perfect Jeans. So much so, I definitely plan to get a black pair.
Meet Emma in Cashel.
I recommend every jeans wearer buy a pair. Not only that, I think I'm now a blue jeans convert. Colour me shocked!
Just as I'm getting to grips with blue jeans, Prince B on the other hand is a seasoned pro. On Saturday he was rocking 4D - quadruple denim. Oh yeah, that happened.
