Every rose has its thorns...

Until Jonathan Anderson took the helm in 2013, Loewe was one of those brands I just never paid attention to. Yes I would see adverts in Vogue but beyond that I never paid them any heed.

Now however I always like to check out what they are up to. It invariably puts a smile on my face. Case in point these sandals from its Spring 22 collection.

Loewe describes the shoes shown on its Spring '22 runway as a "play on the idea of fragility". These strappy leather mules are set on 100mm heels sculpted in the shape of crushed roses with satin-crepe petals and hand-applied leaves.

You know what they say, you can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs.

It also goes without saying that I would also break my neck if I tried to balance on these heels so instead I shall just enjoy pictures of them…

Needless to say the Nail Varnish ones are giving me serious old school Prada lipstick vibes.

All of these have a conceptual surrealist edge to them but I think my favourite ones are these birthday candle ones. Perfect given that Tuesday was Queen Michelle’s birthday.

You can find them over at Net-a-porter and Matches.
